

Careful though, if your dad catches you playing this he’s gonna drag your ass onto the golf course and teach you a lesson in the gentleman’s game. I don’t want to spoil a single one, so I will just say this game is wall to wall joy and chaos, and setting aside qualifiers like golf games or indie games, this is straight up one of my favorite games of all time. Of those all, What the Golf? has certainly given me the most actual laugh-out-loud moments. This is one of the funniest games I’ve ever played, right up there with Portal 1 & 2, Jazzpunk, and that game I found on Steam where you shoot at seemingly innocent skiers with a sniper rifle. The top dog of alternative golf games, you absolutely won’t believe how many times one golf game can surprise you and make you laugh. These sick and twisted golf games are no different: What the Golf? (Windows, Switch, Apple Arcade) Your dad and his friends would shit their pants screaming at you if they saw you playing any of these takes on their beloved “sport,” but the best video games have always pissed off parents.

CPU players feature adaptive skill, so as the player's level increases, so does the challenge!

Computer controlled players can be added to a game either to fill out a team roster, to practice against - or simply to pit against other CPU players while you watch and relax. Super Video Golf can also be played as a combination of both allowing up to 16 players in a single round! Players can customise their characters with a range of designs, hair styles and balls to choose from.

Super Video Golf can be played either as couch co-op with up to 8 players using 1-4 compatible controllers or the PC keyboard, or online with up to 4 computers connecting to a single game. Reaching specific milestones will unlock features such as the clubhouse or the course editor which allows arranging any of the available holes into a custom course, as well as new items such as clubs and balls. It also has a tutorial mode and a driving range for offline practice. Game modes include classic scoring, skins or match play, with optional gimme radii of Under the Leather or Under the Putter. Super Video Golf features a variety of full sized courses, pitch 'n' putt courses and mini golf.
